Your body gets stronger when you use it and weaker when you don’t use it. If you run every day or work out then your body will be strong. If you sit around the house all day and don’t exercise than your body will be comparatively weak. Your brain and mind is the same way. The more you exercise it the stronger it will be. The more it is neglected the weaker it will be. Here are some ways to keep your mind strong and entertained.
If there was only a game that asks you 30 to 50 questions that you had the answer before you successfully completed it. If only this game was difficult enough to the point where you would have to pass on most of the questions first time around forcing your short-term memory to store several of them in there at once. And, if only this game was also fun to play. Well, you are in luck. This powerful memory strengthening game does exist. It’s called the crossword puzzle. Get a book of crossword puzzles that also contains several beginner level puzzles. If you’re not used to playing crossword puzzles, you’re going to want some encouragement by being able to complete successfully the first several puzzles that you do. Don’t start off with the New York Times daily crossword puzzle. That one will be to difficult and frustrating.
Another effective game for exercising and straightening your memory is sudoku. Sudoku is a numbers game and is extremely addictive. Because it’s a numbers game it hits your brain from a different angle than crossword puzzles. Sudoku puzzles also forces you to keep several bits of information in your short-term memory as you attempt to complete it. Do a crossword puzzle and a sudoku puzzle each day in your brain will become a powerful machine.
To keep your mind into top shape to one sudoku and one crossword puzzle each day. Start at the beginner level for each type of puzzle until they become too easy and unchallenging. Then you can move up to the intermediate levels. Once those become too easy you can tackle the puzzles in the big nationwide newspaper dailies.
