The duration of a panic attack is determined by a number of factors and as such there is no fixed answer to the question that how long does a panic attack last. The answer to this question will vary from person to person. An attack can generally last anything from a few seconds to a few hours.For most people their attack will only last a few minutes. The duration of the attack will depend upon your current mood, state of mind, surrounding environment and your abilities to cope up with the attack. Learning deep breathing techniques to help you stay calm might really help you to deal with your feelings of anxiety. If things are really severe your doctor may be able to prescribe you certain medicines which will help you remain calm and will soothe your nerves; however it is not a good habit to rely on these, especially when there are so many better and natural ways of overcoming the problem.
You should distract your mind from the anxiety cause and should try to involve yourself in something which can relieve your mind; such as playing, watching movie, listening music or talking to a friend.
In some cases people only suffer from an attack for a matter of seconds, while in other cases people suffer for much longer. Yet, statistics show that many people that suffer from panic attacks, suffer needlessly because there are many ways to overcome them naturally and drug free.

My daughter use to have panic attacks that would last a couple of hours and I would have to pick her up from school. Now she is so much better.
